A first highlight of the year was the award ceremony for Polycare as a finalist in the German Business Innovation Award in Frankfurt. In April Polycare was represented at the Hannover Fair with a booth of the Bauhaus University Weimar. The summer marked a significant increase and interest in the MAS technology (Polyblocks) world-wide. In order to ensure a gradual transfer of the company into younger hands, Polycare UK Ltd. takes a stake in the German company in May.
During the summer it becomes apparent that the manifold sales tasks and the broad interest in the MAS technology can hardly be managed with internal growth. Therefore the search for a strategic investor is intensified.
The two-storey show house is completed including stairs, roof and slab elements made of polymer concrete. Tests with paint and plastering materials show that subsequent finishing of the MAS houses is possible without problems and at low cost.
Also in summer, a show house made of MAS elements will be built in Delhi, India, in cooperation with Polycare UK and Tata Projects. Despite 40° C temperature and the onset of the monsoon, the house is completed in a very short time and a cooperation agreement is signed with the largest Indian group of companies.
Given the dramatic increase in numbers of refugees fleeing to Germany during the autumn several high level discussions took place with German state governments. The aim was to develop a longer term fast build solution for such situations.
In October Polycare participated at the national competition “Ideas from Europe” in the Federal Ministry of Economics in Berlin and was unanimously elected as the German candidate for the European competition in Luxembourg. In November Polycare received an award as one of the 10 best “European ideas to change the world”.
In the same month Polycare also won the highly prestigious Chemical Innovation of the Year Award from the Bavarian Chemical Industry. This was highly significant for Polycare as this is one of the most powerful industry associations in Germany.
